Two very cool videos, Frogman! I've liked the Black Keys since their first album... before they got big. Cool video for the song! lol! Never heard of the second band, but I'm digging it. Thanks, man!
I know... it's not Friday. But it IS Mardi Gras time!
And basically, New Orleans has been in full party mode since close of business Friday, and will be until midnight Tuesday night.
This particular song features my Dad playing saxaphone. He was a studio musician at the Sea Saint studio where Al Johnson recorded this song.
All the rythm sax and the solo you hear is my Dad. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ccu2_MRMF5Y&feature=related

My jazz combo during high school always loved the creole stuff. It's fun to play, fun to listen to.
Incidentally, I also played saxophone, had a cheapo Yamaha alto (the badge matches my motorcycle! )) and this *badass* old 1954 Martin baritone with the lacquer stripped off.
Your family line gets extra cool points in my book now.
Thanks
Without trying to sound like I'm bragging, but Dad managed to get onto two other recordings that saw alot of radio play. He played rythm sax on Fats Domino's "Walkin' to New Orleans" and "Blue Monday". Same scenario, he just happened to be at the Sea Saint at the right time. He played with other local celebrities like Pete Fountain and Dr. John, but those three songs were his only airtime.
Dad loved playing music, and did so right up until he couldn't anymore. He passed away from colon cancer 9 years ago next month.
Same here, man. Lots of 12+ hour days this week. Now I'm on-call this weekend, but that's not slowing down my beer intake. You get what you get when I'm on-call!
My son has his CB750 road worthy now. Going for the first long ride this weekend. Taking my RZ350 out with him.
