1975 CB125 project begins

I just picked up a 1975 cb125. Bike stars and runs, missing a few parts but everything is there for a ice little cafe project.
Don't know if anyone has tried fitting a CB750 super sport gas tank on the CB125, I got one sitting around the garage.

If all goes well, I will start tearing it apart soon.

It will need to have some mounting points welded in the front, but it could work.

Personally that tank looks wayyy too big. You could probably run that bike all season off one 750 tank of gas! ;)

Wonder how the clip ons are going to clear that. Wonder where you're going to find clip ons that small.

In this.

Nothing is hitting "yet"...
The tank can be moved back since there is no mounting point at this time..
750 tank is bigger but not by much. it's about 4 inches longer and few inches taller.
I will take a picture of two tanks next to each other.

I just think it changes the dinamics of the bike... not sure if I will instal the bigger tank, but I kind a like it.

What's a good compression reading for a 125?

Shop manual value is 170 psi warm. Be aware that you can get falsely low readings on small engines using the wrong gauge setup. If your gauge has an extension hose make sure there is a Shrader valve right at the engine end. If the valve is at the gauge end then you are effectively increasing the size of the combustion chamber by the volume of the hose. That will give a much lower compression reading, a mistake that has led to countless unnecessary ring and valve jobs.
