CB200 '73 tracker project - DONE :D

Question - Started on the wheels, prepping them for powdercoating. Retainers and bearings came out like they were put in last week so that's goooood :)

The only thing i can't figure out how to take the rubber bushings out. If anybody can shine some light on that, it would be awesome:

And for all of you asking about the front brake, here's a preview ;)
The cardboard will be aluminium or steel, not sure of that right now.

Usually you can just wiggle them out with a flat head screwdriver and a bit of oil or use air pressure on them.
- Or maybe see if you can find new rubbers and use a bit of brute force?

Re: CB200 '73 tracker project

well, they're out of there haha what the shit is that fuck. The guys in the factory must have laughed their asses off. [jap]"they're never gone get them out of there hehe"[/jap] We modded an old spoke and slammed a screwdriver in between it to make sure it couldn't get out. Then we applied a big lever to the spoke wich was held in a gripvice.

Re: CB200 '73 tracker project

Took a while but we're on the road again!
This weekend, i FINALLY got my parts back from the powdercoater. Instead of 1,5 week it took him almost 4 weeks, but i only had to pay 150 for everything (sandblasting and powdercoating) so that's worth waiting for i guess :)

I don't know if i mentioned it before, but Bert has got himself a new workspace and it is huge and nice and light and i love working there. So if everything goes according to plan, huge progress wil be made in the next weeks.

As for the colour: i wanted a grey colour with hints of blue or green in it and it came out nicely. It seems to change everytime you look at it, i can't tell if it is blue, green or grey. I think the colour came out great, although some work has to be done to get the whole picture together, colourwise. Headlight will be bare metal as well and wheels are entirely black so my guess is i'll have a beter view on it when everything is put together.

We put the frame on the table and installed the swingarm. We also started on the seatpan, pictures of that coming up later! Spend hours and hours of cleaning old parts that i wil reuse but it is worth it.

Picturetime!

The last shot is just cool. Looks like a lego set you got fro christmas or something. You are on the home stretch for sure now.

Re: CB200 '73 tracker project

Hey guys! Thanks for all your comments! Have been very busy lately so spent my spare time in building this thing, not updating this topic ;)
I feel Bert and I made a lot of progress last week, we made a seatpan, shaped a seat, bought some tubes and finished the wheels, Bert tore the forks apart and he made a mount for the brake caliper and since it was my birthday last saturday, Berts brother and dad bought me a set of new springs and a taillight.

Seatpan was made of paper first, to check the size and shape. After that Bert cut it out of a piece of metal. I shaped the foam using a sharp knife and a hairblower to heat the blade.
The guy from whom i bought the foam suggested hot water but since we do not have it overthere, this worked just fine.
Used a funny type of glue to stick both parts together and shaped the rest while on the frame. I think it came out nice. It is still a bit rough when the seat is finished you won't notice.

Spent big money on new bolts, would be a shame to make a shiny new bike with rusty old bolts.

Bert made this brake caliper-mount for me, fits like a charm!

Happy birthday-parts!

And a quick mockup again! Forgot the part with the wheels, but as you can see they fit nicely! Was a hell of a job to pop the tires on the rims but it was worth the effort.
That's all for now i guess, hope you enjoyed the show ;)

Bye!
