The Points on My XS 650

I have a 1979 XS 650 and the points are being strange. I am trying to set them and the light comes on around 45 degrees too soon, then it stays on until after I get to the top dead center indication mark. Any thoughts? Thanks everybody.

Remember that the spark fires when the points open.


If you run the piston to the top of its compression stroke, and set the points so that they open at that point.


Set top first (left)...i think.
