Hi Lewis, a little late to the party but if you’re looking for jets for carbs I would recommend getting genuine Keihin ones from Allens Performance.

http://www.allensperformance.co.uk/shop/

I’m guessing you’d have PD slide carbs??? You’ll probably need to work out what type jets they’d be. I’ve had some good technical advice through emails from Allen’s though, so they may be able to help identify what type and based on what size you have where to go next.

I’d avoid cheap eBay copies. Ignore the price difference and get genuine.

Nice build so far man!! Keep it up!

Thanks for that. Will definitely invest in some from them.

Carb cleaning today.

Can't really see my jet size think it's a 92? Was thinking about going up 2 sizes to accommodate my velocity stacks. Can anyone confirm if this is advisable

Well that was entertaining.

Stripped all down until I go to number 4 float bowl drain screw was seized solid.
I soaked it in penetrating fluid.
Warmed it.

Then the head of the bolt snapped. So had to drill and easy out.
Except easy out didn't work. So drilled out to 5mm and still has remaining thread inside.

So need a replacement pd50 bowl. (I believe others like pd41etc will fit ) part number 16045-393-004.

Not really done much on the bike been so busy with work just not had the time.

But I have finally built carbs. What a pain in the bottom that was. I had most of it working fine except the choke. I checked over and over again and just couldn't work out why it wasn't operating. In the end I found that the felt seals I made rubbed every so slightly (I mean like less than half a mm)
I ran a drill bit (no drill just through my fingers) and it worked,Just like that,Relief.

I bought a anti gravity battery a 4 cell race special xps one. Yes I should have bought the 8 cell but I made a slight mistake in my measurement (hense why you should measure a million times before cutting) and called anti gravity and he explained that the 4 cell would be ok for running the bike. Just not ideal if I was stop start (garage running etc) and that I should have a slave for that type of work.
He stated that in the tests they cranked over a ducati v twin 7/8 time for 10sec bursts and it still started a v8.
So hopefully that's a winner.

I do have a question about the dyna ignition?
I know I have an electronic ignition now but I wanted to upgrade and simpifly my ignition.
Dyna don't make one for my bike however I know the kit that would work requires some adjustment in the plate. The dyna one is 92mm and mine is 82mm so I would need to trim down.
But is it worth it?
I was going to replace coils anyway. But I wanted to remove the ignition spark units (cleaner wiring etc ) but no point if people say it's not work it.

Many thanks

I've been really busy at work lately so not really done much to the project.

I decided to change my rear shocks,I sent all my info and requirements to haygon and had some custom made.
I also had a play on the lathe to make some custom caps for the shocks, I've had them sent away and made in titanium along with a hex Allen fitting so I can tighten up. I'm dead happy with them.

I made a new side panel with some rubber edging to hide the box I made for the electrics.
On the electric side of things I went for a dyna s pulse generator and have also ordered the coils. Dyna don't make a kit for the cb650 as the bike already has a electronic ignition however I wanted to delete and clean up the build without having the x2 spark units.

For this I had to remove all pickup on the dyna so I just had the base plate. I then stuck on the lathe and removed 10mm from this plate leaving a 82mm plate instead of the 92 the cb750,550 come with.

The black rota I had to bite out an extra 0.70 mm to allow this to sit in the advance rota shaft. While this all fitted well. I wasn't happy that the magnet on this rota wasn't 100% sat in between the two dyna pickups so made a washer of 1.25mm. This now sits bang on.
The rota moves beautifully and the advance arms swinging out. I just need to time it up.

Fitted a new chain.
And I'm currently polishing engine cases and float bowls.

I'm stuck for lighting now. I want to fit some rizoma leggera s to help with the clean look. However not sure if these comply with UK mot requirements.

Will send more picture later

those caps for the shockers look awesome, you should be knocking them out for sale

and screw the MOT's, you can always change them back once a year with a plate that attaches to the number plate with tail/brake light and indicators and put it right when you get home. it doesn't have to look pretty for an hour or two. maybe go down the local MOT station and ask them before you do it anyway. you'd be unlucky to get pulled by the cops for it, its the same as harley use now stock on a few of their bikes so just keep a pic of one on your phone and show anyone that objects

Well I went through all that effort in building my carbs and then that dreaded ebay decided to get involved and send me some bits I may like.

So I bought a set of cr29 carbs for £550 which I thought was a compete bargain.

Then I went and bought some switch gear.

Because I'm fitting these carbs I'm debating if I should fit a oil cooler. Which will involve a adapter plate to be made. (More work)

On braking I'm thinking I may purchase the magura hc1 and a magura hymec to transform clutch from cable to hydraulic.

And lighting should be the motogadget 3 into 1 edge.

Slowly getting somewhere
