Dimmer switch high/low light fix

Can anyone tell me if its possible to rebuild the dimmer high/low switch (1982 CB650SC). More specifically, there is small copper contact plate with a spring underneath (first pic below) that is not making good contact with the wire contacts. As a result the head light wont stay on.

I cleaned all contacts, and tried adjusting the plate, it didn't help. I was considering a bit of solder on the wire connection to effectively bypass the switch and make a permanent high beam connection. Can anyone think of a reason this might be a bad idea?

I've attached pictures for reference. The first pic is the copper plate that is the problem, the second is of the wire contacts.

Some electrical contact cleaner would be my first recommendation. It's also possible to replace the springs that sit under the contacts.

If neither of those those things work out, I would just go with new controls, though.
