Suzuki GSX quick build!

Been Around the Block
I'm in the middle of a Cagiva cafe racer build at the moment but decided to take a break from it for a few weeks and get a couple of other projects done ..... bike is a 750 GSX I picked up a year or so ago and plan is to have it done in no more than 20 working days!
So, first day was to strip off the plastics, drill and tap the top yoke for different bars, start making a new rear subframe to take a seat moulding I have (one I made for the Cagiva that wasn't quite right) and make a start on the new sidepanels....

Absolute top job. That original anchor was uglier than Monday morning and this really looks nice. Belies the notion that the shows on the tube here showing a bike being customized in 3 weeks for 10k are absurd. Of course you have done much superior work in less time with a great deal less money and manpower so perhaps the shows are silly after all.

How much weight do you expect to shed?

Robert

Thanks for the kind words Robert... I've been doing some long days to get this done in the time scale and its good to get some encouragement!! And you're right the idea was to see if its possible to build a reasonable bike without spending too much money, just replacing only what needs to be replaced and making most of the other parts...
I weighed it before I started and it was 223kg (about 490lbs) and hoping to get it down to around 460 lbs or so.....we'll see!

Some pics from day 14 now.....

Thanks Yorkie, I'm usually the same....have been building a Cagiva for nearly a year now....
Day 15 and finally decided I'd better sort the wiring, was expecting the acewell would be a bit of a problem but turned out to be pretty straightforward and everything worked even though the instructions with it were for the car version and this is the bike one with different lights....just swapped wires round til the right ones lit up though...
Yes Hibby containers make good secure workshops but a bit cold where I am!!
