Looks very good. Are you still trying to drop the seat in the back a little? It would be perfec if is sat just a little lower down on the rails and hid the frame tubes.

Cheers

Yeah, I keep tweeking at it. I should be able to get it a little lower. The seat is for a SR500, I couldn't find any decent seats made for the 250, but it does fit well with a bit of grinding of the back rails.

Also, I didn't mention the new grips, far better quality than the last ones I bought for the build.

Looks like you're making progress. Your engine looks in better condition than mine - I'll be cleaning and painting mine this week. Is your bike a later model than mine? your wheels are different and the tank seems to sit flatter.

Its a 1981... it was found in a boat yard in Barcelona... the tarpot only wanted 50 euros! I haven't cracked open the case yet.. but some of the bike was held together with wood screws and cable ties.

taking it apart was easy (even the swing arm slid out nice).. but now the hard but.. putting it back together.

cheers:

Sunday ............... Absent friends and those at sea. Absent friends.
Monday ............... Our native land. Queen and country.
Tuesday .............. Our mothers. Health and wealth.
Wednesday ............ Ourselves. Our Swords. Old Ships (i.e. shipmates).
Thursday ............. The King.
Friday ............... Fox hunting and old port. Ships at sea.
Saturday ............. Sweethearts and wives. Sweethearts and wives.

Stripping down engine for a bit of a clean, new gaskets, new bolts and a respray in matt black HT paint. The cases are already polished and I will file the fins before fitting the engine to the bike.

Not sure if it's already on the "to do" list, but I would highly recommend lapping the valves while you have the top end opened up. Now the fun stuff beings.

Yeah, it's on the list mate, have my dolly (lapping stick) and grinding paste all ready. I was lucky enough to do a Royal Navy engineering apprenticeship and one of the first things we had to do was totally strip down and engine and rebuild it. I think it's something they should teach at school, it only takes a couple of days and the kids could learn so much about mechanics, maths chemistry, and physics.

I sure could've used having that under my belt. Firing my engine in a couple weeks, cross your fingers for me.
