Damn, that is sweet!
Thanks man- I sure think so too! The hub is so damn pretty I don’t want to powder coat or paint it. It’s like jewelry. This 750 should be able to do stoppies now!

This is where I’m at today. I was able to get the rear hub polished and laced up. Now I have have two wheels that need trued. My friend Larry is going to teach me how to do that. I’m excited to learn another aspect of bike building that I won’t have to pay someone else to do.

Holy shit those wheels look good, damn. Maybe I should get myself a polishing wheel after all...

Looking good man, looking good...

Truing the wheels ain't no thing - I did mine on my CB750 and with a bit of time and patience got them pretty good. And they were pretty beaten up too. Bought myself this thing -

https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B004MSYQBU?tag=vig07-20

and then built this rig using a couple of axle stands -

I got some great help on how to true rims, you can read it in my build thread there. You'll need to take off the drum brake assembly off the rear wheel of course. Good luck!

Oh, and if you don't have one already get yourself a spoke wrench -

Very, very helpful.

And another thing! Once they're trued and you're ready to sling on the rubber, look into Counteract balancing beads. I used them in my tires and they work great (they're like Dyna Beads), plus it negates the need to dump a load of weights on your snazzy rims. Worth looking into.

Thanks for the heads up on the bead balancing Jimbonaut!

I cut the lock hole and mounts off the top triple clamp. Then sanded and polished.

Dude when you say polish you really, really mean it. Look great. The clamps are aluminium, right? Will you be putting some kind of protective coating on them or leave them as is?

No worries re. the beads. Seems like some folk swear by them and some won't go near them. All I know is they work great in my ride. I had a harder time sourcing Dyna beads here in Canada and so got the Counteract beads instead. From what I've read they're better, but who really knows?

Yeah the clamps are aluminum and lately I’ve been just leaving everything I polish raw. The dude I take my chrome bits to talked me into leaving it raw and then giving it a quick rub down with xtreem metal polish once in a while.

Good plan. I gave the fork tubes on my 750 a raw, brushed finish too, and just give them a rub down with a scotchbrite pad every now and then.

I’ve never heard of that polish, but I’d be interested to hear how it hold up.
