Engine Bay. The rear end comes in at the back seat and it's tubed out so that the top bar is right under the back window. All else is boxed around the drive shaft so that it's ramped up from the seats back. Because of the 350, if you notice, you lose half of your leg space. Normally your legs go a foot or two passed where the windshield, so the front seats actually sit back the same distance. If you lean all the way back in the seats and look 90° left, you're kinda looking through the rear side window. I should get some pics of all this so it makes sense.

Haha. No joke. The deal was for a running, turn key ride. When we couldn't come to terms on the engine with the supercharger, he had to come up with something. Apparently, he came up with something. LOL.

The jury is out on these 187 305 heads on this 283. My understanding is as a high performance engine, the 305 is not the best choice, but it also depends on which 305. They aren't a good high rev head, but they do provide really good low end torque. As some guys post, they are a beast up until 4500 rpms, then they fall off. Then, there is a guy doing 14.5 1/4 miles with this setup. The cam is obviously key. Regardless, I never considered this engine permanent, as it puts the car on the road and sets me up to build a screamer later.

I think you hear something, LOL. The question is, can you make an LS look like a classic hotrod engine. As in, naturally aspirated or with an EFI and stacks or still run the Hilborn or later add a supercharger or do we run twin turbos? HAHA. Lots of questions from this dude.

Two lines of thinking, engine-wise, is to go 5.7L (maybe vortec, maybe LS) or mess with the 283. Considering I have Chevelle running gear and a Chevelle block, I'm not opposed to playing with the 283 for a bit and see what I can do with it. Chevy ran them in their first foray into Trans Am racing, so I think I can do just fine with this engine for plenty of smiles. The search will begin with 461 double hump heads, either from a 327 Chevelle or Corvette. They'll still be 64-66.
 
I'd also consider how much power and weight the running gear can handle and get hold of the ground.

Exactly. No reason I can't 290+ hp out of this 283 block with the right heads and cam, which seems to be plenty of power for a 1500lb car. Being its 72 Chevelle SS running gear, it should be good to 350hp at least.
 
Dad has a 402 big block that needs a new home... just saying ;)

around here in nascar country you can get a pair of double hump heads for a 100 hey dont use them much

I mean, it's not like I'm going to Ohio this summer without trailer.
