Been Around the Block
Hi I'm having problems with how my bike is running. I've been working on carbs but what ever I do stays the same so now I'm thinking maybe timing issues. Is there any way to check to see if my standard electronic ignition is faulty .it also as a ignitor box .Can you test that .bike does have a good spark .bike ideals ok but when riding it's popping &banging &bogging down I have dyna green coils fitted .

Yup. A timing light should answer all of those questions.

Usually there's an inductive pickup you clip to a spark plug wire and then point the light at the timing marks on the side of the crankshaft. The light flashes every time the spark fires and it will create a strobe effect on the running engine, which fools your eye into thinking it's sitting still. You can see exactly when the spark is firing in relation to the engine position / timing marks.

Thanks I will check it out here's a pick of ignition looks in bad shape

Check the advance mechanism isn't stuck. They didn't have electronic advance back then.
