'71 CB350 with GSXR front end and other improvements

On a different end from the tachometer conversion, I got my replacement coils back from Dynatek and put them on the bike. He fired right on up and idled like a dream. I took a first stab on tuning it and felt it was good enough for a test ride. I got all suited up in my gear and rode out of the driveway and the bike started sputtering and died.

I thought to myself, WHAT THE HELL IS THE PROBLEM NOW... its been one thing after another for months. I was really starting to think I'd never get this bike going reliabily. I pushed the bike back in the garage and started looking at it to see what the problem was, then I looked at the fuel petcock and immediately felt really stupid. I had forgotten to switch it to ON, and the carbs had gone and run bone dry.

A minute later with an actual fuel feed, the bike was running like a champ. I took it out for short ride to shake things down. I'd ridden up and down my block a lot, but I'd never really taken it out on the streets until today.

I only rode about a mile but i had two different people yell at me, "NICE BIKE!!" I also GoPro'd the ride.

Had some free time today so me and a friend headed on out to a quieter part of town where we could start "shaking" down the bike.. I wanted to see how it would perform with the throttle wide (or near wide) open.

I'm curious how it sounds to you. I dont have any basis of comparison to other CB350s! Also when my friend was on the bike and he came past me pretty fast, then slowed down to turn around, the exhuast was blowing out some smoke (it looked white-ish, but not blue) for a few seconds, then cleared up.

I was googling around on it, and most people indicate white smoke means burning coolant. But this bike is air-cooled! Ive found other posts indicating mabye its just running over-rich when the throttle is snapped shut. Other people are saying it could be burning oil (but I did not see any blue tint).

You can see the smoke coming out of the exhaust in the last second of the video. Its hard to see.. I wish I filmed a bit more past that. But it looks whit-ish to me.

Thanks for the answer. I'm doing the same conversion and trying to figure rim and tire size. Any info would be great!

Rims are 18" Tires are Avon Roadriders. 90/100 rear. 90/90 front. The whole wheelset was built by Woodys Wheel works and they recommended this particular setup to stay close to stock.
