1977 CB550 Caferacer build

Hi all,

First of all a small introduction. I live in Europe, Belgium to be more specific.

Just picked up this CB550. She runs great although needs a carb sync. Will be posting my updates here (and my questions :) ). First caferacer build ever. Have restaured smaller bikes until now (honda dax st70).

Plan is:

°repaint / seat / clip ons / remove airbox / battery & electrics in the seat (if somebody has pics of this, pls post)
°They've repainted the engine 'as is' with some sort silver spray. I will need to get this off.

Anyhow, tread is worthless without pics!

Previous owner painted the engine with 'silverspray'.

Started to 'DIY' sandblast it, via a youtube link.

Clip ons +headlight brackets arrived in mail today, will install these asap.

Next will be seat and cutting the frame.

Same bike as mine, my father left me this bike so I fixed er up without doing anything major to it. Just wana get to riding maybe some future plans for it down the roAd

@Fillionj: yours look alright!

Just did a quick mock up (clip ons & headlight brackets).

Next up will be seat, remove gages (get smaller ons) and so on.

Did some work this weekend.

Got the clip ons on & managed to put away the electric cables.

I'll be re-using one gage. Made some brackets which still need to be painted/finished

I want to get an image of an old motorcycle but with fresh paint (in the end, once finished :) ).

Next update will be the seat hopefully.

Chopped the frame & cleaned the sides

Working on the seat.

Anyone got pictures about how you attached it to the frame ?

Assume drilling holes & nuts+bolts but would like to see first.

Hi,

Does anyone have a electric schedule ?

Need to know what wires I need to use for oil pressure & neutral lamp.

Know the wires come out of the headlight but .. That's it. Can anyone help me out?

Haha used the scissors for some rewiring I did :)

Anyhow

Triple tee finished & repainted
Mounts finished for the gage & painted, sits nice!

Looks clean. Did you make those tach brackets yourself or did you find them at the hardware store? If you found them at a store can you send me a link?

Hi man,

I made those brackets myself out of a piece aluminum.

Easy stuff ... measure .. cut .. drill holes :)

Got my neutral / oil / high beam indicators which I'll install coming weekend

First up is installing the lights. Then on to welding the U & find a way to mount the seat ...

I'm quite screwed what regards my license plates. Here in the EU we can't hang it on the side of the bike ... let's see!
 
Didn't like the seat so making one myself.

This one's for sale, if anyone's interested ...

Further ... I finished the 'dash'.
