  • The Jimbonaut: Think if I back it off 2 ft lbs from the 50 ft lb mark I should be ok?
    Feb 19, 2018, 11:12:03
  • SONIC.: It should still work, 50 ftlbs is way tighter than you think, I'm always thinking "this bitch is going to snap" all the way up to the click
    Feb 19, 2018, 11:12:48
  • paddyshepherd: I would imagine you'd be fine - there will be a FoS on the torque settings anyway so I can't imagine there being an issue.
    Feb 19, 2018, 11:12:50
  • The Jimbonaut: No kidding - it was sweaty palm time while I was cranking on that thing and decided to back off until I'd consulted with you guys
    Feb 19, 2018, 11:14:57
  • The Jimbonaut: By the way, what's an FoS?
    Feb 19, 2018, 11:15:30
  • Maritime: the only issue I can see is if you need to build the torque up. When I do the Yamaha heads I need to start at like 20 and then 30 and then the final 40 so there is like 6 nuts to do in sequence like that
    Feb 19, 2018, 11:16:02
  • The Jimbonaut: Yeah man, in sequence and building the torque up incrementally
    Feb 19, 2018, 11:17:17
  • Maritime: can't do that right if 48 is the final spec, fine if 48 is the start and you end at like 60 something, it all depends on the spec.  My GL heads are like 60ish ft lbs but the air cooled yamaha tops at 40 so I need the smaller wrench for those

  • paddyshepherd: FoS means Factor of Safety :)
    Feb 19, 2018, 11:20:15
  • Maritime: Jim if you want to wait, Jill's going over to Houlton today and could grab you this: [link]
    Feb 19, 2018, 11:21:43
  • Maritime: probably only cost 5 bucks to send it on the bus.
    Feb 19, 2018, 11:22:03
  • Maritime: That's 30 CAD vs CT price not on sale of well over 100
    Feb 19, 2018, 11:23:14
  • The Jimbonaut: pm'd you Mike
    Feb 19, 2018, 11:56:05
  • The Jimbonaut: Factor of Safety, gotcha

    Feb 20, 2018, 10:47:31
  • The Jimbonaut: Damn - that link was to a '72 CT70.  Look like it sold in less than an hour
    Feb 20, 2018, 12:12:49

  • The Jimbonaut: La Impetuosa.  Crikey.
    Feb 20, 2018, 12:51:04
  • advCo: Dang, that thing is mean looking
    Feb 20, 2018, 12:58:06
  • advCo: Hey Jim, turns out I ended up needing that kickstarter shaft I linked you for the Van Van. I started it up the other day just to find out that the kicker only works about 10% ofthe time
    Feb 20, 2018, 13:27:51
  • canyoncarver: That is a beautiful Diavel makeover.
    Feb 20, 2018, 13:38:21
  • The Jimbonaut: No kidding Nick - did you find one?  I can ask my guy here if he has one knocking about if you have a hard time sourcing one
    Feb 20, 2018, 13:39:41
  • The Jimbonaut: Yeah that Diavel is something else
    Feb 20, 2018, 13:41:11
  • advCo: Yeah - I ended up buying that one I linked ya the other day
    Feb 20, 2018, 13:43:06
  • The Jimbonaut: Ah, the irony
    Feb 20, 2018, 13:45:46
  • advCo: Yep, so I'll be splitting the cases again soon
    Feb 20, 2018, 13:46:09
  • The Jimbonaut: Oh the joys...
    Feb 20, 2018, 13:46:22
  • advCo: Should be a weekend job, just have to clear enough space on the bench so I don't lose all the bits
    Feb 20, 2018, 13:50:15
  • advCo: Other than that and the petcock pissing a gallon of fuel all over the walkway, it should be about finished
    Feb 20, 2018, 13:50:35
  • advCo: On the plus side, I learned that the Rustoleum appliance epoxy is fuel resistant.
    Feb 20, 2018, 13:54:09
  • The Jimbonaut: Know all about leaky petcocks - the KLR had a concerning incontinence issue when I picked it up.  Post up some pics mate - now the Van Van is as good as done bet that Ghia is fixing for a wrench...
    Feb 20, 2018, 14:03:02

    Feb 20, 2018, 16:06:40
  • The Jimbonaut: Montreal Moto Show this weekend - hoping Husqvarna will wheel out the Vitpilen 701
    Feb 21, 2018, 10:27:05
  • The Jimbonaut: My sole aim at the show is to pull a David Copperfield and make the thing disappear in a puff of smoke
    Feb 21, 2018, 10:28:05
  • The Jimbonaut: Only to reappear with two scantily clad showgirls in my garage
    Feb 21, 2018, 10:28:29
  • Maritime: Ha, I love those Vitpilen's too.
    Feb 22, 2018, 09:17:21
  • The Jimbonaut: They're pretty polarizing - some people think they're answering a question no-one asked, but it could be that bikes like this are seizing the opportunity that other manufacturers have been slow to pick up on
    Feb 22, 2018, 12:01:41
  • The Jimbonaut: - building a bike that appeals to a new generation of urban riders, while ticking lots of boxes for some of the old school too
    Feb 22, 2018, 12:04:07
  • The Jimbonaut: The Arch Method 143...must be fun being Keanu Reeves...
    Feb 22, 2018, 12:30:58
  • The Jimbonaut:
    Feb 22, 2018, 12:31:18
  • Maritime: Yep, that looks fun.
    Feb 22, 2018, 13:16:43
  • SONIC.: It's interesting, but it looks like something out of a scifi movie. Which makes it interesting but not something I would want to own
    Feb 22, 2018, 13:29:03
  • The Jimbonaut: Tom Cruise - "I'm filming Mission Impossible 27, it's set in 2078 and I need a ride"
    Feb 22, 2018, 16:17:01
  • The Jimbonaut: Keanu Reeves
    Feb 22, 2018, 16:17:12
  • The Jimbonaut: Keanu Reeves - "Hold my beer."
    Feb 22, 2018, 16:17:57
  • doc_rot: I met Keanu Reeves last summer at Laguna Seca.  Me and my buddy were wandering around after the races ended on sunday waiting to sober up to ride away. Arch was there with a booth, everybody was packing up and we were looking at the Arch bikes. I can confirm what the interet says about him, very humble and cool guy. all we talked about was bikes. Good times.
