got a 81 Maxim xj 550

I got a XJ 550 that I think is a 1981
I got the engine to turn over and got the carbs freed up
The problem is that the white sticker with the vin # was partly rubbed off by the clutch cable
I need to get a title if I can get this thing running. The MVD in NM is not that user friendly.
Question is does anyone know if the 17 digit VIN is stamped somewhere in the frame

Should be stamped on the neck ??

Yea it has 5k5-003813 heavily stamped on the neck and on the engine.
It also has a white sticker on the neck but it is not legible.
This might be a tough one. I may have to just sell it cheap and let someone else worry about it.
I do want to get it running and fix it up a little.

The stamped #'s on the neck are what the DMV go by.
