would you trade an old cb500 for 99 triumph thunderbird?

Been Around the Block
Hey guys-

I have the chance to sell my 500 and with that I have the option to buy a pretty clean triumph thunderbird. Basically it would be an even swap for it. I love my bolt on 70's chop and I get some nice compliments since no one does the 70's bolt on stuff around here. The 500 has been pretty reliable, but it's 1972 technology. I was looking at something more current and reliable. What would you do if you were me?

If you like the Triumph go for it. If the CB500 isn't one of those "I wish I'd never sold that" bikes, then go for it.

I looked at a couple other forums about the thunderbird..... Do any of you have any real life input about the triumph thunderbird and its longevity?

In terms of cool factor they're pretty even. Although the Tbird is rare, it's got a liquid-cooled triple, not a great looking motor. Actually the whole bike looks rather gaudy. Okay the Tbird edges out the CB, a new gen Triumph that was built in England.
