KZ400S Cafe Build - St. Patrick

Here are some pictures with the wheels. I disassembled them and coated the inner part of the hubs and polished the outer hubs. Then I put the spokes and nipples in a tumbler which cleaned them up pretty good. I thought about coating the rims but in the end went with the old chrome. They were in pretty good shape and I figured it would give some balance of old and new on the bike.

Damn I love this build. Nice color choice.

Thanks M.B, I think the color was inspired by winter in PA.

I have been watching your 440 build, it looks great! Sucks about the starter but it's better to catch it now than half way through a ride.

I got the rear brakes hooked up and the exhaust cleaned and on the bike. I still need a clamp for the muffler.

This is an older Supertrapp, it has 3 inch discs inside it under the end cap. I guess the idea was to be tunable but look like a regular exhaust.

Hey, I'm building the flattrack KZ400. You didn't keep the black shocks that came on your bike originally did you? Were they old Konis? If the shaft isn't rusted I'd love to have them for my build. At hte moment I don't have the time or money to get the right new shocks, and my originals are rusty and crusty.

I have the shocks, they look pretty clapped out though. Probably not worth the cost of shipping.

No problem. I guess I'm going to head over to the local bike salvage place and just bounce on some until I find 2 that seem to damp still

It's been awhile since I updated this and don't have many during pics but here it is pretty well done. I took it out for an 8 mile test run yesterday and it ran well and I didn't lose anything.

Re: KZ400 S Cafe Build - St. Patrick

Thanks Canyoncarver, it sounds really good, not real loud. It's got a nice thump, I may add a few discs to the Supertrapp.

2/8/16 Just adding some pics to this old post rather than making a new one.
