Spark Plug Wire Gauge

In terms of moving electrons, bigger is always better. I'd wager using a high-grade silicone wire would be better (esp. in wet weather) than cloth wrapped. You can always invest in some cloth tape if it's a look you're after.

Actually, I've used the cloth-wrapped stuff before and they seal it, so it functions the same :)

Anybody know what the standard gauge on vintage bikes is for the primary wire? Obvs bigger is always better, but I'm not gonna use battery straps to wire my tail light :p

16 is standard for vintage bikes. 18 is what you'll see a lot of from the mid-80s and on.

I use 18 for most circuits, but 14 for headlight and ignition coils.
