A FREE Cafe Racer project bike. I'm surprised it's still up on CL after posting 5 days ago. . .

https://toronto.craigslist.org/tor/mcy/d/york-free-cafe-racer-suzuki-gs750t/6883458774.html

"Please take my bike!

Doesn’t run, excellent project or parts bike for FREE. First come, first serve.

You must pick up. Transfer of ownership required."

I wonder if there are a ton of back fees on this thing?

Not Craigslist...not a ripoff...actual gold

https://www.ebay.com/itm/HOOKER-2-into-1-EXHAUST-for-1975-Honda-CB360-P-N-18400-369-000-4225/333190050265

I didn't snap a screenshot of it, but a chap threw a decent enough H1 up on a Facebook swap group, for $500 yesterday. His phone is probably still buzzing.

Nice find! I'd love to snag that one. What a decision, CL pipes or vintage Hooker set? Hmmmm....

Re: "Cafe Racer" such a loose term! Craigslist "Gem" of the week!

Here's a cheat sheet for decoding descriptions when shopping Motorcyle ads. (Was posted on a local vintage motorcycle facebook page)

"by owner”…. sneaky dealer

“have not tried to start it”…. it wouldn’t start no matter how hard I tried

“ran good when I parked it”…. it died

“just needs a carb cleaning”…. has multiple issues

“can be made street legal” ….. good luck with that

“have not ridden it much”….. owes years of DMV fees

“out if the DMV computer”…. owes years of DMV fees

“bill of sale only” …. stolen

“selling for a friend” …. plausible deniability for all the unresolved issues that haunt this junker

“classic” …. junk

“collectible”…. junk

“vintage” ….. old junk

“restoration candidate”…. rusty

“import”…. parts orphan

“rare” …. was never popular

“street fighter”…. fairing destroyed in a crash

“previous owner dropped it”….. I dropped it

“project” …. time suck

“mechanic’s special” …. money suck

“must sell”….. will never be sold at the laughable price I am asking

“testing the waters”…. hoping to find a bigger fool

“putting the feelers out”…. fishing for suckers

“don’t waste my time”…. but allow me to waste yours

“serious buyers only”…. please buy into my pricing fantasy

“I know what it’s worth”…. I wish someone agreed with my assessment

“Nevada tags”…. not legal in California

“many new parts”…. JC Whitney

“head turner”…. missing muffler baffles

“will trade for ’67 Corvette, Shelby Cobra or ’80’s 911 Turbo”….. I’m hella high right now

You forgot "ran before tear down" - I realized I didn't know what I was doing and lost parts
"I know what I've got"- nicely finished ones sell for a lot so mine should too
"Its worth more parted out so price is firm"- I needed a part and saw what some unsold ebay items cost.

When I see "Ran When Parked", I always respond with "So did the Titanic".

saw a great one last week in an ad for a chrysler crossfire - " radio works great but no sound comes out of the speakers ".......
