shift and brake levers

Been Around the Block
I see DCC has some shift shaft levers, what about the brake side, sorry for ignorance. Could modify existing OEM but am really trying not to hack stock parts if I can help it. Not sure why I care but I do.

are brake shafts and shift shafts somewhat universal? I would buy a kit off ebay (one of Viet's) which is set up for a XS650 and mod it for my CB500 since the price is great with all those bits, but if they don't fit, I'll just get a generic set of rear sets and piece everything together
