  • I figured out with the 27" tire and the 1.5" lift I'll net 5" of new clearance

  • I then sold the 15" wheels and got a set of steel 14" with good winter rubber on them

  • The Yaris came with 15" but I down sized. I had a set of alloys from my civic with the right size tire so no brainer. cheaper longer lasting rubber with 0 handling changes

  • The Bus has 14" wheels too. Its a weird size for bigger tires. Plus I need light truck or van tires because of the weight too

  • Local Atlanta guy has an off road new Beetle. Lifted 3" in front & 4" in the rear. Roof rack on top and rear seat deleted for storage. He's running 15" wheels with General AT tires. He does a lot of metal detecting in our neighborhood and I'll try to get a picture of the bug next time he is here.

  • I hope you have better luck with tires than I did. Finding aggressive mud tires in such small sizes is next to impossible here

  • I've got over 230K miles on the motor, my transmission is grinding a bit in 2nd and 4th and the clutch is a bit weak.

  • So I am looking to see if the local wrecker has a low miles corrola for the bits, cause why just put an LSD in the current engine when I can buy a swap. put it in that and get more power :-)

  • Should be, I also got on Yaris world to see what others have done. there is only 2-3 others who have done it but it's cool. The problem I came accross was the fact I can swap in a corrola motor with very little work to gain 30 HP and 40 ft lbs of torque that would make it crazy fun

  • So instead I am going to Baja the yaris for mild off road and winter ground clearance. Roof rack, hitch and small trailer and it will be a fishing and camping rig and tote the mountain bikes etc

  • I took the little one I wanted to a spot with a huge gravel incline, like steep as hell and the sales guy said go for it. locked it in 4 low and it climbed right up. It was all set up with AT tires and a lift etc. I loved it. Wanted it so bad. But the cost + insurance to be my DD, which is fine cause my commute is at 50 MPH, was way to much

  • It's fun as hell, but would really suck as a DD. Top speed is about 55 before it starts to feel really unsafe and wrung out lol
