1963 BSA DBD34 Gold star

Crankcase assembled. I had to grind/relieve the right side case for the larger T/Side crank pin to fit.

Has anyone noticed the lightened tappets?
The inlet cam was worn like swannies to a degree. And this bike was only 14 months old when stopped. When I was fitting the crank support plate I noticed no side clearance on the idler wheel for the magneto. The bolt had to be slackened off for it to turn.I ground .010" off it and now it has the correct clearance.

Gearbox dismantling, the kick start gears had been removed and he bumped started it back when. I found the mainshaft bearing next to the kick start gears had broken on disassembly.

Nice project, seems like you are going to have a sweet engine when you get done! I have a 1953 Goldstar (there is a thread on here) and I am using the pearson clutch, it doesn't seem that much better than bsa or triumph clutch that you can use (obviously better quality though). I look forward to seeing more progress.

Sorry for the delay. restoring multiple bikes at once takes it's toll.
I have fitted the engine and transmission. Just got the kick start housing back after new bush installed and reamed to size. I also bought a new rear brake plate and I wasn't happy with the play in the housing and I had a bush installed to fix that problem. The magneto is back. The wheels are done. Getting some S/Steel axles and spacers made. So that's where I'm at. Thanks for taking the time to have a look.
Cheers

I have replaced the shocks ,chain guard , fork tubes, progressive spring and fitted dual action fork rods. New headlight bracket and I have ordered S/S clip ons. New Phil Pearson clutch installed and new primary chain. I've ordered S/S mudguards and humpy seat. Wheels can be fitted now but I have another job to do before I get back to it. Dam jap bikes and titanium valves wearing away.
Anyway sorry for the delay.

Hello again,
I managed to purchase a new old stock Lyta 5 Gallon alloy tank.
It has arrived but isn't fitted with a cap? I have a 2 1/2'' Monza cap to fit , but will need to machine an adapter and have it tig welded on. Then get it polished.
Cheers
