I have a rather specific question you all might be able to help with. So i have an opportunity to purchase a 06 Monster 800 for very cheap the frame engine and transmission are in great condition but the tank is scratched up the seat is torn and the other plastics are cracked. I have never really liked the look of the Monster but i have often thought about building a cafe out of one since they are relatively inexpensive for the performance. I've built two cafe's out of older bikes, 78 XS400 and 83 CB650c but would like to try my hand at a more modern bike.
So my question is a little specific. Since the tank is messed up anyway and i really dont like the look of it I was wondering if a ST (2,3 or 4) tank would fit on the Monster frame? I have done some research and it seems that some of the Monsters' and ST's share a frame. the straighter lines of that tank would make a much better looking cafe project and give it a good horizontal line look rather than that deep V of the seat.
Anyway any thoughts, experiances or advise on the ST to Monster swap?
