"Tangerine Dream" / Glemseck - KZ750

Re: "Tangerine Dream" / Glemseck - KZ750

Well if you can get it to work easy enough you could sell the other 2 with instructions as a kit.

This is what £18 gets you from Chinabay ! 8)

SUPERB quality - complete with it's own foam case.

Definitely erring towards the Gixer pump now. Hoping there's room inside, if not - it's an external setup.

A few more bits from Chinabay and I can start laying the parts out for a proper look see.

Nice cooler. Nice to know the quality on those seems good too.

My pal just bought a similar item for his Husky race bike from a "leading well known UK supplier" - quite frankly the finish was BETTER on the Chinabay item. I paid £18 delivered to my door - he paid £45 for the rad with NO FITTINGS. And that wasn't as a "genuine" Husky part [ £75 ! ].

Of course at the moment I have no idea if it will perform the same, worse, better ...... but just looking at the quality of the component parts, welding etc. it would be hard to imagine it won't at least be as good.

And again - thanx to headsups from you guys, mine came from 1 of the "preferred" provinces.

On a similar score - I am a lifetime practitioner [ now lapsed ] of Kendo [ 1st Dan ] - but have recently taken up the study of Mugai Ryu - Japanese sword Zen meditation / swordplay. I still have several of my swords used for the Katas involved in Kendo - but I only have one with a "live" blade.

So back to Chinabay - and I now have a beautifully made sword for the cutting part of the Mugai Ryu practice ........... £125 delivered - £450 bought from a specialised UK outlet !

The sword is made in China for a Japanese company to their standards and then shipped to France for delivery to the UK. !

At the moment [ until Brexit ? ] that means no duty and no VAT [ 20% ].

CC,

here's some of them - 2 are away for sharpening / polishing.

The "Black on Black" is the new addition.

Slight terminal inexactitude on the price of the cooler :-[ - I forgot I upgraded to swivel fittings £29.00 delivered. 8)

I think I've located a suitable remote oil pressure relief valve [ turbo supply ]. The Gixer pump puts out 55 psi before the bye-pass opens - I only need 35 'ish for the turbo supply otherwise seals will suffer.

The Aussie one is £169 + carriage [ £20 ]

Take a look at the very similar layout of the Mercedes 420 version - £28 !!!!

A supplier in Birmingham [ UK ! ] has them in stock. Only 15 miles away so I plan to call in and have a good look at one.

Parts arriving thick and fast now ! ;D

I missed out on a late V7 petrol tank that would have fitted in very nicely with the overall image in my brain - however, the seller couldn't confirm it would be ethanol fuel enriched proof. It's "chromed" abs plastic [ 'ish ]. So it's back to a tank "cover" as a plan "A".

However, I now have most of the parts I need to mock up the turbo, oil cooler and hoses. The Merc 420 oil pressure relief valve arrives today.

Still looking for a couple of secondhand / cheap Nitrous Foggers ????

I should also have the dimensions for the top half fairing later today to see if that's viable.

At this stage I can swap between styles easily [ tank, seat, bars ] as all the other parts are common to both styles [ Grimeca Alloys, rearsets ].

I KNOW some of you guys are pretty turbo savvy .................... what's a good method for fuel pressure requirements ? - a pressure switch of some kind I'm guessing.

SO THE INTERNAL PUMP LOCATION IS A NON STARTER !!!! :'(

OK, plan B .... The external location driven from the end of the alternator screw is definitely a goer. ;D

Even sorted out the drive - thanx to Kenny and the loan of more bits ! So I looked at the end of the Gixer pump and thought - "use the end with the spindle / cog". Simply [ ha, ha ] bolt the Gixer end housing to the KZ cover plate [ or make one ] and I have a simple solution to the drive issue.

Yep that works a treat. Gives me a housing with bearing / seal - simple bolt on, and has the advantage of using the Gixer drive chain. It simplifies my " can you make that for me please mister" list as well. "All" I need is the OEM Gixer drive spindle shortening and a slot machined in the alternator screw for the drive. Not quite as simple as that - but nearly so. Just as well I have THREE Gixer pumps. The other benefit is that the drive ratio [ 1:1 ] is as the OEM Gixer drive.

Both of the pressure relief valves are a no go ..ballderdollox. Good news - found a remote fully adjustable unit on Chinabay - £14.00 delivered. Brings new meaning to "Chinese Take Away ".

Major session in the shed today. Once the pump location was sorted, a lot of the other packaging fell into place. By moving [ oh futtox ] the carefully laid out and constructed under seat electrics and tray ::) I can move the turbo up and back sufficiently to get a gravity return to the sump of the turbo oil - that also means I don't need a scavenge pump - or remote sump. Might bring a new meaning to the phrase "roasted nuts"............... need a good source of heat protection !

That location also simplifies the hoses and fittings [ and the cost ! ]

Pulled the pin on the Norvil half fairing and tinted screen, and I'm 99% certain about the Manx tank cover. Definitely morphing into that Sixties Cafe Racer I had in mind !!

Looking really positive ................. oh yes and my 3 monthly assessment came back - meds doing their job and STILL stabilised. 8)

Great news on the health. Nice AVON/Rickman top half fairing. First fairing mold I ever made was off one of those that I had fitted to a DB32.

Regarding that V7-tank, if the Guzzi V7 is sold in Brazil, it's Ethanol-proof. (As long as the fuel tanks have the same spare part number!) They run corn-juice in everything. It's also the trick to get proper Ethanol-proof FI/carb parts for cars, straight from the manufacturer.

Cheers,
Greg

CC - the turbo will now be close to the underside of the seat ! [ Hence "Roasted nuts"]. I can get away with some sort of heat deflector - as in flat / shaped sheet. And maybe some sort of flexible heat insulator under the seat upholstery as a back up.

Teazer - I looked at the original style Avon / Metisse - the one with the perspex bubble on the front. There's a few variants available now, but as I will not be running lights I decided on the Norvil version with no headlight aperture. In the end I went with Sforza Racing's offering - I've had stuff from them before - good quality and inexpensive. They'll even pre-drill and fit the screen - save me cracking it !

Greg - had I known that when I was bidding I would have gone higher, but the seller didn't get back to me when I asked the question. It was crazed all over the "chrome" covering but was otherwise as new. In the end it went for over double my bid - £155.00

This is the actual fairing £58 + screen [ without aperture ].

That fairing is the Norvil Commando Production racer style. Nice. Similar shape to a Dunstall top half. That was so cheap though. Nice pile of parts starting to come in.

Teazer - Not entirely sure why it's so cheap !!! It's half the price of his other similar fairings. Maybe he made too many ! I've had stuff from him before, so I know quality is OK. 8)

So - update on progress.

Just to clarify [ I hope ] my thinking on the Gixer externally driven pump - here's some pix. Bit of imagination required ! ;)

First - the general layout - the Gixer end housing will bolt to / through the small circular alternator cover, giving me access to the alternator fixing screw which will require a slot to take the spade end of the Gixer spindle [ shortened to suit ]. That gives me both a bearing and seal for the drive. That in turn will allow me to use the stock Gixer drive sprocket and chain.

Finally the pump itself will have weld bung AN fittings welded in place.

While I was out there freezing - I decided to have a rough POC on the exhaust system using some random bends and a 2>1 collector I'd bought.

Again - imagination required - as it will be on the other side [ probably ]. As it's a real mission to turn the bike round now, I decided to go ahead on the side I had access to ! I can see with very few mods - it's definitely a goer. Unfortunately not with my welding ::) Nothing has been cut or modified yet - and already it almost falls into place. Someone's smiling down on me. This side would probably "look good", but there's too much going on in that area with the pump, hoses, turbo etc. Although it would give me a better line into the turbo housing. At some point in the near future I have to get the rolling chassis off the bench and onto my bike lift !!

A bit of imagination required !!!

POC on the exhaust - MAYBE on the other side. Theoretically a virtual mirror image.

Imagination ? I don't want to actually cut / modify any of the bends yet until a welder has had a chance to give the system the once over. At the moment all the random bends are as received - luck or what! Even the pipe crossing from the right hand ex. port works with one of the random bends I bought ............... it's about this time I wished I could weld !

SO - The front pipes will be shorter and tighter to the head and the join between the two pipes and collector will be parallel. I think I'll also have a neat run into the turbo housing on this side - but that depends on the oil pump / hosing packaging.

Best part of the system ? Without doubt the HEAT SHIELD !

Teazer,

Probably going with the Avon as the "dash" will allow me to lose various switches, gauges and controls.

I have done a deal with the guy that makes them - he's interested in the RAMSHOX.!

My Chinabay boost gauge arrived yesterday - spot on ......... £5.00 delivered !

Also a few more hose fittings. Amazed at the quality, price and delivery times.

I finalised another "barter" deal for a late engine AND my twin plug head conversion is going to be next on the guy's jig.

I think I also have a spare frame coming ( for set ups ).
