Lets see your front end swaps!

Sweet. I've seen one other person use RS125 on smaller bikes (CB175 specifically). They are surprisingly affordable if you can find a complete set. Looks great!

Looks too steep almost tucked. What is the body?

Still very much in progress, but the meat and potatoes of the fork swap is done.

1975 XS650 with 2006 GSX-R 750 fork + triples. Going to be using the GSX-R calipers + master cylinder, but I ordered a Cognito Moto top triple with risers so I can use my tracker bars. My back would hate me if I used clip-ons, especially without rearsets.

71 CB 100 with a 90's CB125 s Wheel, caliper and fork lowers with a CB200 fork uppers and triples and I am not having the forks sticking out of the top of the triples like that the pic of the forks show the CB125T fork upper longer then the CB200 fork upper

Have you found someone to cut and machine new threads into your CB200 fork tubes ?
I'd like to do the same thing to a pr. of 33mm forks I have but haven't found a shop who'll do it..

I am not sure what you mean by threading but here is what I did
I used the CB200 triples and top of the fork tubes that I bought from a friend of mine.

Thanks for that response & parts description and what I mean is that you mentioned(and I noticed in one of your posted pics)that the fork tubes are sticking up top higher than the top triple clamp on your CB100 bike and I want to ask how will you fix that ? I was considering(I have a 1981 CB125S) taking my fork tubes(that are also too long and stick out up top 4" too high)to some place that will cut them down and then re-thread them so they will fit the length I want;do you know if someone can actually do that ? I already have forks that are the correct length from a CB400F but they don't have those nice features(good disc brake sliders, lower teflon bushings, etc.) that the other forks have which are set-up for a longer & higher cycle but I'm still looking for a machine shop to cut them and re-thread them and i'll use the springs from the CB400F forks which are the same diameter and the correct length;both pairs of forks are 33mm diameter.

The CB200 forks are shorter by a few inches then the CB125t tubes so I just swapped them and they fit quite well. I would look at a fork chart and figure out what will fit Diameter wise and then start looking at the fork lengths. you should find something that will fit. Getting the tube retreaded might be a pain in the ass. Here is a list of bikes with 33 mm forks and Tube diameters as well as some other info.

some stanchion tubes simply have a counterbore and a snap ring groove at the bottom end so that would be the logical place to shorten it
nobody will have a tap to the thread the fork tube besides it really must be done with a single point tool ,manually,in the lathe, a lost art i am probably one of the few left that can do it with eyes closed and hand tied behind my back

I'll be back in touch with you bout this Kenny ;) I already have the CB400F forks(tubes are real gouged and I had to rub the heck out of them w/ fine 800 sandpaper just to use them, lowers are good) and they're the correct length for me but something about that lower teflon factory bushing on the tubes of the 86' Rebel 250 forks(the lowers are cool looking too, disc brakes, etc.)makes me like them.

the DU bushings are a good thing that is for sure the best thing to happen to forks
as long as your sliders are in good shape i can convert them over to use a DU bushing
its a relatively simple machine opreation the stanchion i machine a home for its bushing and the slider gets a counterbore below the seal
back when i was racing enduros the little 86 kdx 200 had isuues with the front forks, too much compression damping which paul thede at race tech helped out with but the other was the du bushings had too much clearance leading to a skittish feel in the front especially picking your way through fields of baby heads
my solution was a simple one, tighten up the bushing clearance with shim stock underneath the lower bushing on the stanchion
the upper bushing could be shimmed or knurled as long as the ends were filed a bit to allow it to close up tighter
bottom line is it made a huge difference the clearance stock was huge, like .006 " !!

I'd like to see if you'd cut the tops off the 86' CMX250C Rebel 250 fork tubes and re-thread them.. Big job huh?! ::)

no its not a big job really but i dont have a metric gearbox on my lathe so it would involve making caps or adopting something ready made from the steam age inches
that said the cap doesnt need to be threaded a simple plug with oring groove and a retaining ring groove in the fork for a retaining ring is all that is needed

Like the Yamaha's? well that's good to know,I didn't even think about that;as long as i wouldn't use too much preload I wouldn't have to worry about losing the 'pop cap'. :D

edit:I mean when trying to disassemble them;ever try removing those from an old Yam. after sitting outside w/ no rubber caps getting rusty for lots of yrs.? WD40 and then see how much 'pogo' it'll take.. :D Now where did that cap go ?? ::)
I wouldn't let mine get rusty that way. ;)

with the shear strength on those clips, you would have far greater problems if you popped one out after assembly =)

1978 Yamaha SR500 with 2000 Yamaha R6 front end. It required to have the triple clamps fabricated, along with a new steering stem which is a copy of the stock stem; this is so it would bolt up without issue..new bearing etc... This allows me to have adjustable suspension, better brakes, and the use of 17" wheels and tires. Stock forks are 32mm and the R6 is 43mm.
