What did you build this week?

Those are Bling Redbird. sorry to hear he's going through something similar to what I did, hope he recovers to the best he can. I'll never run again but I walk without a cane now.
Thanks Mike ;)
His age is definitely a plus as far as his prognosis for a full recovery is concerned. If I were to have sustained such a leg injury, they'd have just taken me behind the barn and shot me :p
Not that it's a contest (or ever should be), but I think he got you beat... fractured and dislocated hip, and severely dislocated knee. The Doc said he was roughly 6" shorter on his left leg than on the right. Spent 1.5 weeks in traction for the hip, then surgery to repair the fracture (two plates and seven screws), then three weeks of laying in bed while the hip healed enough to do PT. First knee surgery was done the day of the accident (to install an external fixater to locate everything where it was suppose to be), second knee surgery was about 3 weeks later to reattach the meniscus and clean up bone/tissue damage, next knee surgery will be in 2.5 months to hopefully repair everything else (ACL, PCL, and MCL (all completely separated)). If not, he's looking at a fourth knee surgery down the line.
It's been an "interesting" seven weeks so far... with more to come.

So sorry he is going through this. You know, my lady's mother broke her hip, had surgery and she can walk a now and she will be 94 next week.

Best wishes for your son.

What I meant was, the body does have an incredible ability to heal.

Shit Chris, thats a whole lot of knife time. If hes half as stuborn ad me he'll be fine. Hope all the surgeries go the way he needs to heal up. He's the National Guard right? Thank him from his northern neighbors for keeping our continent safe.

My new SCR950 has a seat with tabs at the back, and then is bolted on at the front. To get the seat off, the left sidecover must be removed, then the seat unbolted and removed. There is a TON of under-seat storage space that's not easily accessible. I replaced the screws on the sidecovers with thumbscrews, but honestly that's not good enough. Sidecovers are delicate and fragile and so I built a remote seat latch. It bolts to the tab that the seat bolts to, nothing welded to the frame. I used a universal choke cable from the auto parts store to actuate a ring pull plunger, which is mounted in a custom bracket I welded up. Adjuster is a clutch cable adjuster from a CX500.

Decided it was time for a blast cabinet upgrade.
Not done yet, ran out of argon. It's a LOT of welding.

Designed in cad then plasma cut the parts and sticking it together.
Pretty simple overall but should be a huge upgrade from the current one.

I opted for a bottom feed I stead of the horrible siphon feeds so I'm excited to see how that works out.

NICE! But, will it accommodate a 78 CB400 frame? ;)

Maybe lol I haven't tried to shove one in there yet.
For frames I usually just take them outside and blast from a bucket. It's 48x24 inside

I think the bottom right IS sufficient, we don't want to make it an architectural nightmare to repair.

Built a small and portable cabinet for my sandblasting cab. to sit on. Has 2” locking casters underneath. Reclaimer and extra media will go in the bottom and nozzles, etc in the drawer.

Built out of scrap MDF I had from another project.

This was Saturday's project...
IMG_4289_zpsuws9vhrv.jpg

Rebuilt the fence down the side of my yard. I originally built it close to 20 years ago. The boards had been getting old and brittle, and the dogs (specifically the two younger ones) started exploiting some of the weak spots. This one should outlast the current group of Pups.

The Supervisor was hard at work, overseeing the project. Rolling his eyes at the young'ins for causing such a fuss.

Built a man shed. TV, DVD, CD player, FM deck, cassette deck, record deck, comfy armchair, heater, carpet, secret beer stash, motivational pictures. A quiet place to sup beer, listen to Thin Lizzy, and contemplate life.
