1976 CB750 RESTOMOD

Hi guys, long time lurker here. I've been restoring a CB750 for the past year, and now it is almost at completion. After seeing all of the beautiful bikes on here, I wanted to share my progress as well. Hope you all enjoy!

It all started on July 2015. It was a hot summer day, and I had been out late the night before at a friends wedding. The previous week I found a decent CB750 in Calgary, Alberta, a city 3 hours south of my hometown of Edmonton. My friend also found a bike he wanted in Calgary, so we both hopped into a rented truck and headed south to collect our bikes.

When we arrived, the CB looked in worse shape than in the picture. The original pipes were gone, the tank was in horrible shape, and the overall condition of everything was about 6/10. Despite being initially disappointed, I got the price down with the previous owner, shook his hand, gave him the cash and loaded up the bike.

This is how she looked when we first picked it up.

DUN DUN DUN! Here it is at the mechanic's garage. As you can see, it needs quite a bit of work. The previous owner, and however many owners before him didn't take the greatest care of it, and it shows. However, it fully ran!

Let the teardown begin!! At this point, I had decided that I wanted to do a full restore... all the way down to the frame! Let the spending $$$$ begin! (My wallet will start to hate me at this point, but we cool now)

Re: 1976 CB750 CANADIAN RESTOMOD

Once the bike was apart, reality began to set in. This one was going to need a lot of work and new parts if I wanted to get it back to its former glory. But as they say, "you got to pay to play", and pay I did. My mechanic gave me a list of all the parts needed, and the shopping spree began. Most of the parts I got were from 4 into 1. Good quality inventory, decent prices. I'm a happy lad. First purchase on the bike was a brand new replica seat from Ebay.

Re: 1976 CB750 CANADIAN RESTOMOD

While the mechanic was busy working away on the bike, I scoured the internet to find out someone who could restore the tank. I came across a gentleman named Brent from Vintage Vendor in Vermont. After a few back and forth emails of what I wanted, I sent the tank over to him and let him do his magic. I chose a candy apple red, with a russet base coat to really make the red color pop. All of the striping and graphics were painted on. No stickers on this tank! Got the tank back after a couple weeks and could not be more happy. Brent was great to deal with, and sent photos of each step along the way. Was amazing to see the amount of work needed to get this tank back to showroom shape.

Here she is with just the engine! Once the engine was out, I took the frame to a local guy for powder coating. I chose a satin black finish, and it was so so so worth it.

The old exhaust had to go. I finally found a combination that I loved on Cycle X. Decided to go with the 4 into 2 headers, new exhaust flange kit, and stainless steel shorty reverse cones.
