Hey guys, just joined the forum a couple weeks ago, been looking around at all the builds on here, lot of good looking bikes. So I figured it was time to post my build. Bought the bike back in October of this year. It was not running, old gas and float bowl leaking badly. Had been sitting in a shed for the past 3 years. Less then 10,000 Miles, brought it home drained the gas, float bowl was seated incorrectly. Put fresh gas in the tank seems to run pretty good. Rode it around the neighborhood, back brake was locking up. Pulled bike back into garage and started the tare down. I have a couple of questions. I don’t care for the look of the front master cylinder does anyone know of a good looking master cylinder that would fit this bike (single disk). Also, thinking of using rear sets from a gsxr. Anyone know of a different bike that the rear sets would mount better then the gsxr. Paint sould be here in a couple of days, House of kolor Orion Siliver frame and stripe, Lapis Blue tank and seat pan. Hope to have painted around the holidays. Hope to have build done by end of April. Thanks for any help and ideas. Enough chit chat for now.
Ah nice another Zuki! im currently cafeing an 81 gs400, ill tag along on this build! I may have a master cylinder for you in the near future, im trying to find spoked rims with hub brakes instead of front disk, suites the look better. Ill let you know!
Check this site out, itll help you with anything mechanical the bike needs
Thanks guys, I have to say not enough suzuki's on here. I've got to get my frame all smoothed out and primed this weekend and hopfully the tank. Want to paint Christmas week (I'm off work till after the new year) , so I can start the rebuild. I'll try to get pictures posted to keep you all updated. And yes, I follow all the Suki builds, may see a great Idea.
Agreed, not enough Suzukis. I'm also working on a GS 750 (79 in my case). The project is currently stalled due to lack of funds, still need an ignition and new battery and a few other odds and ends. One of these days I'll get around to posting a build thread. Good luck with the project.
Good luck RadioPaul!!! I got a 77 GS750 myself, but I've halted any work on it until I figure out my financial situation...Look forward to your work and I hope I can get my project going as well!!!
Got some primer on the frame and gas tank, blocked sanded gas tank. Looking slick little more sanding another coat of primer and block with 400 it'll be ready for paint. I was hoping to be painting today, but I'm a little behind.
Got bike painted today. except for seat pan, it fits just still a lot of work on it, and I'm ready to start putting it back together. So heres some Pic.
Frame and tank paint sliver, I painted all the tank sliver before taping strips, incase of bleed through, didn't want any funky colors coming through
I've been polishing yesterday and today very labor intensive, or am I doing it wrong. Using firm and soft buffing wheels, on bench polisher, with course and fine compounds. Sanding with 220, 400 then 800. Still took me couple hours to do the four parts pictured below.
