CL350 air filter cover won't come off?

Bolt just spins and spins... how can I get to the back side of it?

It's a long bolt that goes through to the other side of the left filter cover. Hold one end down while turning the other end.

So I gotta pull the other side cover to get to the other end of the bolt, which also means pulling the exhaust? What a pain

Not sure if you need to pull of the exhaust entirely, I've never worked on a CL350. Can you loosen it enough just to get the sidecover off?

(not my bike, but to illustrate)

It's not a difficult process to pull the exhaust, but sure unfriendly design for maintenance of something like the air filters.
