So the issue was 100% vacuum leak. Didn't have number 2 boot on all the way at the carb. You have to have them positioned correctly or they dont seat right. Problem solved. I think the vacuum pulls on throttle making it stiffer and I just never noticed. Thanks everybody

hey fly2devin, first off this has been a very entertaining project to watch. Second, i am very fond of the cx500 tank that you used for this build. I have been looking thru the pics to try to see how you went about mounting the back portion of the tank, i noticed you removed the stock rear cx500 tank bracket. Are you able to elaborate on any tank / frame modifications you did to get the tank adapted and parallel with the ground?

Thank you. It's always nice to get complimented on something you've put so much time and effort into.

This is the best pics I can get without taking the tank off.

First I welded a plate to fill the hole of the tank after removing the stock bracket.

Then a spacer block and a threaded rod was welded to inside of plate

The drilled a hole through frame to lock tank down.

Keep in mind you want to keep tank insulated from frame with grommets. If the bike gets a short you don't want your tank to blow up and catch fire.

The plate that was welded in has the rubber edging I used around the seat and tank and is resting on the frame. That also help set the height of the back of the tank

Purchased some Tarozz Clip-ons to get a bit more raise on the handle bars and a new mirror. We shall see how that looks later this week.

really nice bike, question ... how thick is your seatpan, for the upholstery?

The seat pan was made from 14 ga stainless.

Some heavy bar ends. Supposed to reduce vibration; I'll let you know.

And a new mirror. This mirror is a piece of art work. I don't know if DCC is making this but it's beautiful.

Nice build. Glad to see someone else is planning to use DCC's mirror. I'm looking at this for my CB550.

How about a pic with the new mirror? Also, any problems with that round ones? Still hunting for my CB450.

Thanks...awesome build!

ground pedcock a bit to get clearance to carbs and adjusted needles. Mirror coming soon. The round mirrors are nice but I got them from eBay and quality is so so. On a 2 hour ride one fell off because it bolts through plastic ball and it worked itself out.

Road 100 miles after work in on and off rain to my moms house today. These clip-ons are awesome. Much less fatigue because I'm more upright now. The dampeners seem to work. I still feel vibration but its less then before. This could also be an affect of the new clip-ons.

The mirror is nice and well made but I miss the conical mirror on the bar ends.
