Repurpose highway bars

Has anyone used the highway bars for other uses? Im wondering if I can use them to make the rear hoop on my cb750.
 
i know but i figured why spend the money and be resourceful. :)

Thought about using mine from my 750 at one point. However the width of the walls on the highway bars on my 750 were probably way to thin to provide long lasting durability. Id suggest spending the money to order one or have one fabbed up for you. There are a few sites that sell them and I have ordered one from a member on this site.

Oh - so you actually mean highway bars (or crash bars).

I guess it depends on the diameter of the tubing. A hoop behind the shock mounts is not a critical load bearing part (although it helps to keep the shocks rigid in regards to sideways flex), but you'd want to use tubing of the same diameter as the seat rails.

And crash bars should be strong enough as far as the raw material is concerned (although it will only be as good as the welds).
