The moment you realise....GS250 project is on

The shipper arrived early...that was the moment I realized that the little GS250 I'd won on e-bay wasn't going to be appropriate for my tracker project...way too nice to cut into, chop up or take apart....

Re: The moment you realise....

You're quite right, some bikes are too clean and sorted to hack about. Does the tank need painting/striping to match the side panels...maybe do that and turn it for a small profit to fund the next one?

Don't think that model ever came to Old Blighty?

Re: The moment you realise....

Looks stunning, could be the darker light but helll i'd love to ride that.

Re: The moment you realise....

Yep - that's pretty clean....but it's not exactly original.

Different mufflers, instruments, headlight, indicators and paint just off the top of my head.

And it's an L so it's not exactly "desirable" so to speak.

Probably a good candidate for a re-vamp as you probably wouldn't need to do much to it mechanically 8)

Re: The moment you realise....

Its podded and runs quite well, but I'm going to need to go up to a 16t front sprocket-pretty whiney at speed. Only 11k on the wee beastie-the po sent the original speedo to verify mileage. The tank is bare metal (except for the red stripe down the center) and has been clear-coated. Might have to shrink the fenders a tad. Planning an AGM battery and electronics under the seat. Have to run it a bit more first...might ditch the scrambler bars for tracker style or motos, but all in all it's a great little bike!

Re: The moment you realise....GS250 project is on!

Thing are on the move...46t sprocket to bring down the RPMs, new Biltwell mustache bars, new seat, electronics box mocked up, new cats eye tail light, and final mock up before the cutting and welding begins!

Looks very similar to the seat I went with on my GS450. Nice bike - I like it! Must be pretty light.

Light and fun! Still thinking about lower shocks...the 14.5 inch units push the limits. Next up: finding an 18'' wheel to fit...

Northish- we must have the same e-bay dealer! Love the 450,great bike there! magazine-cool SR! I was looking at one, but the deal fell through. Thank you both!
