*clank* in 1st gear/Cylinder 1 weak

The other day I lost power on a highway half way home and had to leave my bike for the night. It started up and ran fine the next morning... but barely made it the second half (about 10 minutes). Now just driving it around town (no higher than 3rd gear) I get a clanking sound accelerating from a stop. I took off the left side cover for a quick look and saw nothing out of order to my eye. I did reset the points because they were a bit off. Also, cylinder 1 feels weaker than the others when I put my hand by the exhaust. I loked at the spark plug and that seemed fine.

Any suggestions?

I have been tied up working on a car project, but I'll be quick to try anything suggested.

Thanks!

Not yet. I plan to though, I don't have the gauge for testing it so that put it off.

Would one weak cylinder cause a complete loss of power at 60mph?
