Project "El Chivo"

Been Around the Block
Hey all, Its been a while since I have posted anything but wanted to start a thread for my newest build.
I finished up a 73 RT3 360 a few months ago and was lefts with lots of parts to build this one so hear it is.
Its starting out as a rt3 frame with a 77 dt250 mono sub frame. The tank is from an old L5T and the forks and trees from a dt250.
I will be using the 360cc 2 stroke motor with lots of mods on it, got it all apart for boring, clutches and carb rebuild and need to round up an expansion chamber to go under the frame. Anyway hear it is and I will post more when I have time.

Thanks,
Jachana

Wanted to get some pics up.
Got a lot of parts in this week. Rims, Grips, Bars, etc. I got my down pipe ordered from Circle F Exhaust.
Cut the frame up a bit, got rid of tabs and shortened it up by 4 inches and welded in some support.

More soon,

Jachana

Got a pic from Kevin at Circle F exhaust and here is the chamber he is building me for El Chivo.

Also got the forks taken apart last night for lowering and a freshen up.

Needing some opinions on paint colors too. Thinking gun metal frame and heavy flake purple on the tank? Thoughts?

TIA,
Jachana

Thanks man,
I did a lot of research and found this guy has great reviews and does good work. Wasn't to expensive either.

TIA,
Jachana

Looking good. I also dig that chamber. I looked up Circle F, they are out of Houston...I'll have to go check out their shop. Are you in the area?

Thanks Guys, much appreciated.

Has anyone had the problem of the plunger spinning in the fork tube when trying to remove the lower allen head bolt to take it all apart?

Any special idea or tool that can help?

TIA,
Jachana

Ah yes! its always a simple solution, I will give that a try. Thanks for the input. The first one came apart with ease but the second one not so much.

Got the rims on and the forks in and lowered as mentioned before. Thank you Yamaha for providing a top spacer lol.
Also Marvel Mystery Oil is awesome as cleaning agent on aluminum.

TIA,

Jachana

Just quick update,

Got a ton of parts in. The motor is ready for paint and to be put together. Exhaust from Circle F came and looks amazing. Got some new Shinko's on the rims.

Getting closer,

Jachana

Got the monoshock frame tabs cut out and tack'd into place. Still need to finish weld it but its strong. Seat height is very nice.
Got some spacers to add to keep the shock from moving side to side.
Almost ready for powder coat.
