Took the bike out for a run last night and noticed the el cheapo 'cafe Elvis' bracket was missing on the left side So I need a fix. I'm looking for simple and stripped down and I'm willing to build my own but need some better pics. Thanks ahead of time!
The solution and a lesson. I started going through my odds and ends pile of parts and found this exhaust hanger that came with my muffler (original bracket on left):
Angle grinder+vise+muscle+file= 2 new better than original brackets:
The lesson: don't thow away spare brackets, metal, etc.-never know when it'll come in handy ;D
I'm actually impressed by this. Those stupid headlight brackets look great but are definitely not the best materials. I had to bend my tabs so they would latch better. I might be stealing this if mine don't hold up.
Oh yeah - I cut a piece blown-out bike inner tube and used it fill the gap on the outside against the fork tube. I'm thinking that should reduce vibration as well. I'll see if I can get a pic of it all back together.
