So it's about time I get a build thread together. I recently found a pair of bikes on Craigslist for dirt cheap. My score included a 1973 TX500 and a 1973 RD350. Both were in less than perfect shape and looked like they had been sitting outside for at least 20 years. After I got them home and unloaded I put together a budget and a game plan in order to get the TX back in one piece and rideable. I also found some inspiration from other members on DTT as well as other sites and forums.
Right now I am working on getting the TX running. Since the engine if had for the TX was already missing the cylinders, a piston and a few other things I went ahead a found a complete replacement on eBay. I also picked up new carbs, a gasket set, piston rings, new points and condenser, and I also picked up a lockset and key because I don't have keys for the bikes. I figure if the motor is out already might as well just go through it and know that it's good and rebuilt.
And now on to some pictures! My vision for the TX is to make it into a modified tracker/bobber. I am in no way a purist when It comes to any of my vehicles/projects. With that being said the color combo is going to be Pearl White tank and side covers, with a gloss black frame and wheels. I'm also going to I with a shortened seat and all LED lighting.
This is my first motorcycle and I absolutely can't wait to get working on it and learning as much as I can about it!
