Honda CM400/450 carb upgrade Mikuni (sizes)

Hi guys, my name is Niels and I'm from Holland. ;D I've got a Honda CM400 (full build caferacer). The flow of the head is optimized and we fitted a 450 cylinder. The original carbs (and intake) are 36 mm Keihin. The Mikuni VM30 and VM32 are used as a upgrade for the CM/CB 400 / 450 (i've got two VM30's). The difference between the carbs 30+mm and the intake 36+ is huge. This could result in pour flow/gas handling. I believe the 34 or 36 mm Mikuni's are overkill for the CM400/450. But I'm not sure.

Some tell me to use the VM30. Others to buy the VM36's and build a special exhaust. I don't know what to do or can be done.

Can anyone help me with this issue? What is the best option?

Thanks!! :) and I'll soon open a project to show my build.. inspired by some projects I've seen of some of you guys!

VM32s should be plenty, if the are properly jetted for your engine. CV carbs, like the ones which came with your bike, usually need to be abut larger than direct slide carbs, like Mikuni VMs. I run VM32s on a 1970 CB450K and there are wonderful.
