Man, here is some perspective I had not thought about in years. I turned 46 last month and it is hard to believe that I got my first 1972 J model GT750 28 years ago. Even stranger the 72 was already 16 years old. In high school my best friend growing up had a 1977 KZ650. It was kinda "Mad Maxed" out with a bikini fairing, chin fairing, slick metallic dark silver paint and mean sounding Kerker pipe. First time I ever heard the word "Cafe" was from my friend Mike's mouth. When I got that first 72 GT at 18 years old I copied my buddies KZ, stripping the heavy stock GT exhaust for a 3 into 1 chamber adding pods and jets, chin & bikini fairings (from JC Whitney catalog) with midnight blue metallic paint and some sweet low drag bars. He and I raced around on those bikes many Indiana summer nights cruising the parks doing smokey burn-outs and chasing girls.

Well I'm much older now, ehh... respectable (kinda), have a grown up family and I am settled down. That first Suzuki GT 750 pig that I desecrated in 1988 has long since been sold. The only thing I have left to remember from it's ring-a-ding, ding, ding smokey wake is a polaroid in my old driveway and this little GT750 terror called Bad Buffalo.

10/30/14: So I got the Bad Buffalo out for a run today. I made a short video walk around of the bike running & riding. I also Ripped through a few turns with the Jemco pipes wailing and six pot Tokicos doing their job (remaining mindful of motorists, hidden driveways and pedestrians of course).

Mid Ohio bound 2013: This is how we roll when covering a few miles. Bad Buffalo is still a pack mule at heart and can haul some stuff. I think we did around 600 miles that weekend. Pretty cool when guys from around the country come up to you and say "I have read all about this bike on Do The Ton."

My build started as a truck load of disassembled parts from a trade deal I did with a buddy for a paint job on his Triumph. The previous owner had torn it down for a Cafe Racer, but I did not like the direction he had started with it. So I decided to bob it. Over the course of the winter - summer of 2014 I chopped the frame and installed a Voodoo Vintage hard tail, a lot of fabrication, powder coat, paint and polish... i ended up with a very nicely running and looking bobber that is a hoot to ride. The last thing that I did a few weeks ago was to adapt a set of ex500 CVK carbs on this bike... they are so much punchier and smooth compared to the stock BS34 carbs. Thank you for the nomination.

So this 1976 GT750 began it's life in MI. By the time it was sold at auction on ebay in 2002 it was pretty rough and a great candidate for a project:
Far from ready but one version before final evolution.

seviton's GT is as perfect as a resto-mod can be, but the which-bike-would- I-most-like-to-ride test swings my vote to Brad's XS.

That and respect for the 3 tanks and 4 sets of pipes sacrificed in its construction!

Crazy

Lost count on how many versions of Bad Buffalo were worked through. Here is historical photo review.

Bad Buffalo has seen 3 tanks, 4 sets of wheels, 3 sets of brakes, 3 swing arms, 4 tail designs, 3 fork set-ups, 3 custom sets of rear-sets & 2 sets of shocks.

Only 5 original parts remain and all of those were all rebuilt/reworked/tweaked: Frame, motor, side covers (2), radiator.

Street Tracker Buffalo

Classic Resto/Buffalo

Modern Resto/Mod Buffalo

That 's it you have been demoted you are no longer CRAZY just strocker ;D

What Cycle World wrote about riding the GT750 in 1972. LOL! I have owned several 72 J models and they are classics, but no comparison. More fun with modern rubber, suspension, 100lbs lighter & 40% more HP.

Was able to grab a few pictures thanks for any votes and all the help with this bike over the last few years. It's been a Lerning experience for sure
