Choke cable

I have a 79 cb650 and I hate the choke set up. I hate putting it on and taking if off if need be. I hate how they always seem to fail in some way and now that Ive changed up the stock handlebar set up there doesn't seem to be a good place to put it. I really like the manual lever at the carbs some of the earlier bikes had no fuss no long cable just a little lever that lets you take care of business. I'm wondering if its possible to turn this system into a lever kind of scenario and do away with the cable. Any thoughts on this? Is there anybody out there who's ever done something like this? All input welcomed and appreciated.

Funny, I have an 80 xs11 and I have the lever choke on the carbs and I want to switch to a cable on the handle bars.

Got any pics of where the cable goes into the linkage on the carbs? I've been thinking of doing this on the XL, a diff setup with only a single carb but same concept.
