1976 CB550 brat project

Hey there folks. Took a long time off the site but I'm back. Just picked up a 76 CB550 that my friend had and gave up on. Plans are to build a simple brat style bike to pop around town on. Just want it to be super clean with good lines. It's going to sacrifice performance for what I consider to be aesthetically pleasing so if that offends you, too bad. I've got another bike to play in the twisties on. One of my main goals with this bike is to learn a few skills that I've been too timid to try to learn before. I'll try to post some pictures of where I've got in the 3 weeks I've had the bike.

Here's the bike how I got it. Not going to go into specifics of how bad it was, let's just say there's plenty of room for improvement. One of the first things I did was rip the stock wiring harness off and start from scratch.

A couple photos of the harness as it sits now. Still not good. Going to order a fuseblock and antigravity battery (4 cell) to clean it up right.

Also painted the engine and moved on to try and make a seat. First one was a failure, second one wasn't bad, but I think the 3rd time's the charm. This was my first attempt at sewing so go easy on me haha

Forgot to mention i got the seat loop from harrisluv on the sohc forum. Still need to weld it up along with the gussets. Here's the last photos for the night. The tail light I'm using is a vintage bicycle light that I'm stuffing 16 leds into. It's got a real glass faceted lens and I think it's going to look great. Mounting it straight to the rear loop with a hollow bolt which the wires will pass through. The license plate with mount at about this angle. Going to weld in some threaded bungs into the seat loop and cut out some angled spacers to make it sit like that. Also included a photo of the clear points cover I'm anxiously awaiting to come in from frankenbike stuff (member on here).

I would type out my to do list but I don't want to overwhelm myself haha. Hope someone here enjoys this build, I know I've been lucky to watch some pretty rad builds on here.

There ya go. He shipped it fast and I'm pleased with the quality for what it's worth.
