1962 BSA DBD34 Gold Star restoration (1000 miles and more)

magicflemo, The male and female ends of the quick detach socket have an outward indentation and must align in order for it to match up correctly. (see third photo) Once they match up, the rubber part covers the connection.

The rubber cover is hard, thick rubber and must fit over metal "female" socket. As the hole is smaller than the flanged end of the female socket cover - how do you fit the rubber?

I've used a 50/50 mix of wintergreen oil and toluene

Hey Swan how do you like that Pearson clutch? I have one in my Goldie and it doesn't seem that great :( Seems like it could be more of a cable issue though. Also do you have the clipons with the perches welded to the clipon or something different? I'm going to try to persevere with the clipons but just hate that I can't rotate the levers down.

I love my Pearson clutch, nearly 6000 miles, no issues. Make sure you have a tiny bit of play in the cable before the clutch starts to activate.

I opted not to use original clip ons with welded perches because I like to fine tune the control lever positions to best suit my comfort and riding style.

I have had a few rides so far this season (March, Minnesota) and she is running great. I stored the battery and carb inside my house for the winter and she started on the second kick.

Good to hear that you are out riding already, year round here in Cali of course ;) I sent a message to Pearson today about the clutch. I think I'm going to install a new cable as it feels like it stretches before it actually moves the clutch arm but maybe I am just imagining that. I hear you on those original clipons, I like my levers down pretty low so I will go down the same route as you. Could you post up a pic sometime of your clipons looikng from the front, also one of the clutch actuating arm and where the cable adjuster goes through the casing?

Thanks,
John.

Good evening, I've read your Goldstar resto, splendid job!
Question; I'm in search for a 42-9065 Goldstar grabrail to be used on my Goldstar restoration, do you have one? and if so, are you willing to sell?
These grabrails are inobtainable overhere, greetings from the Netherlands.
