  • Nj732port: 20x42x12 for the ex250
    Dec 07, 2018, 22:53:42
  • Maritime: Sorry nj canr help there. Nick thanks, we have minwax here. I ended up with 2 7.5' lenghts of butternut. Going to glue em together to get 24" wide.  Nice wood. He only had pine left in the 24-30" wide one piece

    Dec 10, 2018, 09:57:36
  • Maritime: Pretty happy with the wood I got. Jill is too, the butternut is nice, the old guy calls it white walnut and that's what it looks like
    Dec 10, 2018, 09:58:26
  • Maritime: It was the only hardwood he had in decent width slabs. the others were all softwood or 8" wide which would have meant a lot more work for me
    Dec 10, 2018, 09:59:12
  • advCo: Yep
    Dec 10, 2018, 10:28:40
  • advCo: Biscuits or dowels will help gluing those up if you have the tools
    Dec 10, 2018, 10:29:01
  • Maritime: I have a simple doweling tool, but the old guy I got the wood from who has a massive shop and been doing it for 50 years said with a 2" thickness and being a desk a good clamped glue joint will be enough if I don;t have the biscuits
    Dec 10, 2018, 10:44:53
  • Maritime: That being said, I am going to ask around and see if I can borrow a bisuit joiner
    Dec 10, 2018, 10:45:42
  • Maritime: Or I may just cut a spline and use a strips of wood. I have the bit for a spline.
    Dec 10, 2018, 10:47:05
  • advCo: That'll work too
    Dec 10, 2018, 10:59:48
  • advCo: I just like the biscuits because it keeps everything lined up and straight for the glue up
