Thin Rotor swaps for the 76 cb550?

Coast to Coast
Wondering if anyone has kept there original cb550 front end but upgraded there rotors for a thinner one?

I need one with a overall diameter of 11".

Ill slap the fzr on there tonight but its too big for a stock brake setup.

Basically Im trying to source some six bolt, 11" od rotors that are around 4mm thick for a front end swap on a 1974 cb750.
It has the 1980 cb750f front forks, calipers, etc that are all stock.
If I could find the above mentioned rotor I wouldnt have to shave out the 80 cb750f calipers and hardware to fit the 6mm cb550 rotors.
The cb550 rotors are an exact match minus their thickness.

Thats why I was wanting to see what others did to their old cb550 rotors.

The hunt continues...

Thin Rotor swaps for the 76 cb550?

Should be pretty easy to get the rotors milled?
There was a guy on here that was milling rotors for cheap. 35 each maybe?

Something like this

They mention... our process takes very little off of the surface.

Bummer, the hunt continues!

Yeah but if they are surface grinding they can just make several passes to get to your desired thickness. If call them and ask if nothing else.

Try early 90s cbr900rr rotors. I just bought a pair for my gs.

They are 296mm dia. 5mm thick, 6 bolt at 6.5mm, 62mm inside and 78mm bolt dia.

Hope that helps.

87-05 kawasaki EX500(GPz) are 280mm, 6 bolt at 150PCD and 5mm thick.

pre-98 Yamaha TZ125/250 is almost direct bolt on. Used one on a 500t front wheel swapped into a cb360 last year. 280mm diameter, 5mm thick, 6 bolt at 80mm PCD.

I use this link for most of my rotor swap searches, and then if it fails I go directly to EBC's stock rotor PDF catalog online.

I got mine thinned and drilled by Godfrey. Excellent quality work: http://www.vinmoto.org/gallery/v/VinMoto-Garage/album03/Godfferys-Garage-123/Parts+and+service/Brake+Rotors+_+Thinned+and+Drilled/

you may want to be careful thinning the stock discs too far, they will have a minimum thickness measurement cast into the middle somewhere and anything beyond this will see you getting knocked back on whatever safety/roadworthy inspection your bike has to go through.

ex500 ninja disk had to much of an offset to utilize the original 74 cb750 spoked hub.

I did find some cb550 rotors and itll work for this application.
At first glance the calipers and brackets fit with no interference but its really close.
