Unofficial Modification of the Month Nomination Thread - April 2013

Ok folks,

The idea behind this one is that we be able to showcase some of the really clever stuff people are doing as part of their builds. Not all of us are turning out show quality bikes that will grace the banner, but I am constantly surprised by the level of ingenuity I see are part of people's project. Let's see some of it.

The rules of this "contest" are going to follow the same basic rules as the BOTM thread, but with a few key differences.

First, the modification needs to have been part of a build thread on this forum.
Second, the post(s) detailing the modification need to have been made within the last six months (date needs to be supplied during the nomination process).
Third, the modification must be complete and have a "finished" photo.
Finally, the modification need not necessarily be to a bike, but can also include modified tools. Let's try to keep it mostly bike related though.

Other than that... anything goes. What crazy stuff have you seen in the last six months?

Nominations will close March 15th or when we have five modifications nominated and seconded.

Also... the winner may not get their modification in the banner, but they will get a cool decal made by yours truly (I'm currently working on the design).

Sounds cool. I'm looking forward to seeing what gets posted.

I nominate Bowmans cool kickstand:

Cheers

I nominate MJPriceIsRight's heads up that the early Virago 750 and 920's air-assist shock can be swapped out straight up with an early 90's YZF600 rear shock.

Second post in the below thread, and I've since followed suit.

Oh man... and tonight we're totally putting a hydraulic clutch on an RD400... worthy? Eh???

I like this idea!
Great way to showcase ideas that might otherwise fly under the radar.

you might want to change it to modification of the week at the rate people are turning out killer ideas here.

The fact that he's a buddy aside... The sheer lunacy involved in cutting two prized and somewhat hard to find machines apart, than welding them together is too awesome to discount... Not to mention that one was a 100% original, 300 mile, 42 year old machine. Haha. If that isn't some rock and roll bike building, I don't know what is.

That said, everything posted so far is badass and well deserving of a beer and an "atta boy" for sure. Keep being rad people. Theres too much boring out there.

Second Brads insane fabbing creating rule breaking building modding drinking cursing.........etc.

Isn't the point of this thread specific modifications? It's kind of confusing when you just name a bike and point to the build thread.
