the plan is to detab and fabricate a seat hoop. A KZ or KA tank is needed as the F tank is too long, new mounting bracket will be required as well.
Swing arm will need a underneath torque arm mount and a drum brake comstar wheel for the rear.
I will try to fabricate parts as required or refurbish existing parts. the frame swingarm and wheels will be sent for powder coating and the smaller parts I will do myself with a hobby powder coater.
A local guy to me will be doing the tank painting.
all electrics to be relocated under the tank and wiring hidden in frame. I'll be making a custom loom to suit, with a small lithium battery.
I am well on the way with this project and should of started posting earlier. so I'll add a few pics every couple of days.
had to rejig the rear brake arm and brake light switch to suit the change to drum brake and to hide the switch.
Bracket to mount the regulator/rectifier behind the engine under the swingarm
made an aluminium holder for the digital speedo/tacho, had to use pop rivets as I cant weld ali.
Was going to use these shock risers from a scooter as CRD have used on a couple of their builds and even made an insert to hold then level and stop them rotating.
Decided they look to clunky and made these instead, hand made with hacksaw and file, oh and a drill.
Got hold of a set of 93 gsxr carbs as I'm going to run with pod filters and the standard carbs I'm reliably informed are almost impossible to tune with pod filters.
Heres the frame and swingarm all powder coated Light Ivory Ral1015
Heres the motor masked up and painted satin black, but more flat black than satin black I really wanted.
I gave the top end a overall fitted new rings and lightly honed / deglazed the barrels. There was minimum wear in the bores and I only changed the rings as I got a set for £30. all valve clearances where shimmed after lapping the valves and the camchains ware also in surprisingly good nick no stretch at all.
Headlight, powder coated top yolk and renthal bars
speedo / tacho
After market master cylinder and chrome bullet LED indicators
Headlight bracket and front brake pipe splitter
LED indicators mounted to headlight bucket
Front Brake calipers were upgraded to later 2 piston type and fully rebuilt and powder coated. Speedo sensor pickup mounted on original speedo drive, thats had the internals removed and blanked off, the magnet for the pick up is stuck to a disc bold head. The brake lines are stainless braided lines hidden inside a braid sleeve with the pick up wire.
got it all together and running, Took it for a MOT and all road legal.
Just need to tune in the carbs now, runs ok on the stand but the roads a whole different story. shame the weather here is not good, wet and foggy so no good for WOT runs and plug chops.
Its 2mm aluminium plate. Made a template first from cardboard. I used a mig gas bottle to form the curve, mounting bolts are fixed in with epoxy. Bought the leather and foam on ebay and used a local lad to me to stitch and fit the cover.
