Ace 50 Salt Lake Racer

Hi All,

Sorry to hold you in suspense, but as a few guessed there was no phone coverage there. The nearest reception turned out to be a 3 hour drive from camp!

We have some good news - the Skyteam did it! 39.5mph with minimal modifications. The only thing stopping us from topping 40mph was a rough patch of salt at the start of the timed section which knocked some speed off. With a motor not yet fully run in and only minor exhaust and intake modifications we are wrapped with this result. The original rear sprocket (47 tooth) got tossed after the first GPS run as the bike was maxxing out in top gear before the end of the first mile, so our spare 38 tooth from a 125 was swapped on providing a much more ridable bike as well as the better top speed. Unfortunately there is an offset difference between the 50cc and 125cc cogs which we will have to look at finding a way around in order to keep this cog on the bike long term, but once the offset is sorted it is a modification we can definitely recommend for any 50cc Ace.

I will be sorting through the photos from our journey over the next couple of days and will add some here as soon as I can.

Does the bolt pattern/mounting method for the rear cog on the Aces match that of any other common bike? I'm just thinking through ways to deal with the offset differences between the 50cc and 125cc cogs without having to change the offset of the rear wheel

Back at work today. The little 50 went well . Thanks to the SUUS guys for letting me hang around with them at lake gairdner. Fantastic trip . Congrats on the two records. I stayed and packed up the track. Last guys off the salt. Hard to find your way around out on the salt with no flags or cones left. Great week and hope my bike is ready for speed week next year.

Hi guys,

Sorry about dragging my heels with the photos. I've still got a few to upload of the bikes out on the salt, but for now here are a few from the event.
