Honda 1975 500cc Twin $500... should I?

Perusing through the local Buy'n'Sell and found what the seller calls a 1975 500cc vertical twin Honda... which I am guessing is the CB500T.

I can probably pick it up for $500, he's calling it a great project bike so I'm guessing it's a barely running basket case.

Tracey wants a café bike and I was wondering if this was a decent starting platform to work with as far as parts availability is concerned... being an Airhead man myself I have little knowledge in the field of Japanese rides.

Thoughts?

Tough to find parts - wasn't made for long and wasn't considered reliable if I'm right. Better off with a smaller Honda twin. The 500T tank is nice though. Or find a Yamaha XS650 like the one I'm buying :)

yeah..

Its a good bike but, parts are hard to come by for that particualr bike. I was offered a cb500T, 4 tanks, 3 other running motors, 5-6 sets/parts for carbs, etc..etc.. all for $700 here in TO.

If its running and in decent shape, it might be worth it but if its a basket case, ya might wanna think twice..

Buy this and I'll ride it to Winnipeg for you.
