1976 BMW 2002

My Flying Brick, 1976 Bmw 2002.... bored to 2.5l balanced and stroked, later model 5 speed. Roll cage, flaired fenders, shaved off all the chrome. It took me a couple of years to do mostly through the winters. Hauls ass and goes around a corner like its on rails

My neighbor has one that has been sitting for 15 or so years rotting away. He won't get rid of it, swears he'll "fix it up one day."

Great car. That looks very nice.

My friend, Jeff Bailey, and I hold the world's speed record for a 2 liter BMW 2002 at 131.7mph.
We set that on our 3rd trip to Bonneville Speed Weeks in 2009.
Our first trip to Bonneville in 2007 was featured on the cover of Roundel in May 2008 (I think that was the issue).

Both Jeff and I are building bikes to run in 2012.
Mine is my cb750 that is in my build thread, Jeff is a cb450.

We think the 2002 will not go any faster with a 2 liter and getting through tech is a lot easier with a motorcycle. :)

Awesome '02 man! I have a '75 that I've been working on for a few years now. 9.5:1 pistons, 292 cam, dual sidedraft webers. It needs the body redone.
I have the feeling I've seen ur car before...do u live in the Northeast? Maybe I've seen it at Lime Rock???

Thanks everyone! to bad it sits in the garage most of the time. Boats bikes and work seem to take up most of my time. Hedrives thats cool as hell good luck with your next quest. Dale I've been following your build, beautiful job. You have me jonesing for a Guzzi! there may be one in my future.
 
the 2002 is a favorite of my mine and my wife. Some day we want to have one in our driveway. I want to leave miami before I get any car I think is nice though.

I was looking into buying a lime green 2002 back in high school from my uncle but it turned out the frame was rotted out. Still love these cars!

Its a website/forum bmw2002faq.com Great website if you need to know anything 2002 related. I used to frequent but my '02 build is on the backburner for now. Lots of beautiful cars over there.
