SL70 microtracker for my son

giving new meaning to the term "brat style"... i built this with my little dude, who's quite the brat, at times.

we started with a halfway decent 1971 SL70.

we stripped the bike down, and wire-wheeled the frame to bare metal, then chopped some length off of the rear by about 4 inches. i trimmed the seat down, in both width and height, and had my friends at new church moto cover it in some fresh diamond-pleat black, with brown stitching to match the tank and rear fender.

i stripped the tank to bare metal, and powdercoated it in chocolate brown, as per the boy's asking.
the rear fender is just a chunk of the stock one, mounted to a couple of studs i brazed onto the seat-pan bottom.

we cut a few coils off the stock rear shocks to drop it a bit.

it didnt run well, and he's kind of a punk about learning to use a clutch, so i ordered a little semi-auto lifan 70cc, and massaged the frame to make it fit. i made a little battery box with waterproof push-button start, and bypassed the ignition switch, but left it in place.

exhaust is made from some electrical conduit, with pipe-wrap.

i think in all, we've got about 500$ into it.
