Hey guys, just moved to Orange County from New York. I've been on this forum for a bit, but mainly lurking around.

Here's the scoot as she currently sits: 1974 cb450k7 with a budget garage cafe build.

This leads me to a pretty serious question for all you Southern CA guys; about a month after moving here it appears oil is getting into the right side combustion chamber. Compression is healthy at temp (165+/-) not great I know but not terrible, but im still burning oil and fouling plugs on the right side. NOt sure if it's valve seals or what. Overall, the bikes really running like hell right now and I could use a second opinion. I'm a very capable diy'er but i'd still like someone to assess the health of the engine overall.

Who is the GO-TO for vintage hondas in OC? I want someone who isn't a hack. I'll need some diagnosis and i'd also like to have the tank acid washed and sealed.

Welcome guys, and thanks for the help! Whens she back to running 100% i'd like to get out on a few rides.

Calling all SOCAL guys?!

I am getting settled in here and could use some good advice to get this old girl running 100% again!

Hey Paul, welcome to the OC. There are a few of us out here. Hit me up when you get your cb450 running, I'm always up for a ride.

I've never had any shop work done, but I know Justins, Carpy's and Lossa (if you're near Long Beach) do some pretty reputable work. You should be able to acid wash and seal treat your tank yourself. My guess is as good as yours for the oil leak issue. It must be the valves if your compression is that good, but beats me what the steps are to remedying it. You should post in the engine section, or check out any of the shops below.

Cheers man. Hope it all pans out.

Thanks for the reply! I've been eyeing this thread at work like a hawk, lol

I tell you man, the main issue for me is time/space. My old gig in NY offered me time, and my apartment offered me space to really dig into the project to get it to where its at now.

Now, both my time and space are limited, and I really really just want to ride the damn thing. If it means taking it to a reputable shop around here to have them sort out my top end, then it may just be worth it. My problem is just like that of many of you though, is that I am very proud of the work I'VE done on the bike, and I have a tendency to distrust other people working on it.

I'll check into these shops, and hopefully get her sorted out again soon. Thanks!

+1 on Justin. Hes in la habra, depending on what part of oc u are in it can be 10 minutes or 45. But he's the dude.
